metformin: chaos, order, and deconstruction

A predominant chaos begins to submit to entropy, accretion processes, and other guidelines of physical laws. With this rearrangement of space, matter and energy, entities are created that will give rise to potential scenarios for life and for our own existence.

Within the black emptiness, the frail microlandscapes constructed and deconstructed by metformin molecules become an allegorical representation of the origin of the cosmos itself.

A few hundred thousand years after the Big Bang, in the midst of a chaotic distribution of matter and energy, atoms began to form and then fuse into molecules. These were the seeds of the first protostars, protoplanets, and chemical structures that gave rise to protolife.

My eyes look for the same event as I contemplate metformin magically regrouping in its microcosm. Just a cosmological metaphor or an aesthetic experience, but perhaps also something else.

Nature does not hide anything, what prevents us from seeing is our limited intellectual capacity to interpret what it shows us.

The drug metformin is used in the treatment of type-2 diabetes mellitus, one of the highest-incidence conditions in the world.
